Ok so this is kind of a cool idea. President Obama plans on proposing a plan to give college students two years of free community college on
Friday. He said: "Put simply, what I'd like to do is to see the first two years of community college free for anybody who's willing to work for it," He wants to make these two years as common as high school. The details will come in the state of the Union address on the 20th. There are some numbers out. They plan on 9 million students and the cost would be close to $70 billion for the first 9 million for two years. Thats a lot of money. In order to make this work the states, communities, colleges, and students would have to cooperate with the Government. College is a key step to better jobs, more money, and a happier life.
Cory Fritz a speaker for the speaker of the house John Boehner said: "With no details or information on the cost, this seems more like a talking point than a plan." Unfortunately I agree with The speaker (both of them) I did say that it sounded like a cool idea not something that is going to get done anytime soon. Once The President comes out with his plan on how it is going to work it is definitely worth another look.
I posted on a this as well and I think that it would cost way to much money for the government to try and provide free college for everybody who is willing to work for it.
ReplyDeleteIf the details will be released as soon as the 20th, I don't think it is fair for the speaker for the Speaker to start talking that way. If the official declaration was so far out that it seemed Obama had no plan at all, or he had already announced details and there were obvious holes, I could understand. Right now, though, I don't agree with his statement, but nor do I dismiss it out of hand.

It's a great idea, it'd do a lot for the poorer people of the country, already deprived of the same opportunities as others, because of the limiting factor that is tuition costs.
